Collection consists, primarily of publications of the Ebell Society of Los Angeles, with some from the Oakland and Santa Ana
Valley chapters. Publications consist of programs, annual announcements, application for membership, by-laws, financial reports,

Note:
Dr. Ebell, convinced that women needed a "systematic study of the exact sciences, including music, art and languages" founded
International Academy in Berlin. In 1876, gave lecture in Oakland resulting in establishment of first chapter. Shortly thereafter,
society named itself, the Ebell Society. Two additional chapters established in 1894 in Los Angeles and Santa Ana Valley.
